New Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3t is a breakthrough in mobile technology that combines the power of netbook and tablet computing

Tarsus Technologies has announced the local availability of Lenovo’s IdeaPad S10-3t, the multitouch convertible tablet that straddles both the netbook and the tablet world, and is intended to meet the requirements of both market segments.

“The IdeaPad is more than a 10-inch netbook for the tech-conscious mobile businessperson. It’s intended to perform business, entertainment, leisure and communication related tasks – offering the practicality of a netbook, and the ultra-portability of a tablet,” says Alexi Hume, Lenovo product manager at Tarsus Technologies.

“To see the true potential of the device, all you need to do is swivel its capacitive multi-touch display to turn it into a responsive, ultra-slim slate device that boasts 10.1-inches of high-definition viewing real estate. It is LED-backlit with 16:9 widescreen resolution that features a 180° screen rotation, giving the perfect perspective from just about every angle,” she continues.

Additionally, the Lenovo NaturalTouch panel delivers responsive fingertip touch technology and offers access to, and interaction with, a wide range of multimedia touch-optimised applications, and for those moments when a touch screen is not suitable, the user is offered all the convenience that comes with having access to a full-sized physical keyboard.

The IdeaPad is a whiz for any kind of networking. When it comes to file-sharing,  DirectShare technology allows the user to effortlessly synchronise and share with other notebooks, without connecting to the Internet.

“The technology that delivers all of this functionality is neatly buried under the IdeaPad’s hood. And if you take a look on the inside you’ll see either an Intel Atom N470 processor that runs at 1.83GHz, or a N450 processor that runs at 1.66GHz, with an Intel GMA 3150 integrated graphics card and you’ll find up to 320GB of hard drive space, which, when combined with a 667MHz FSB and a 2GB RAM, means that there’s both sufficient capacity to store multimedia files, like movies and music and sufficient system bandwidth to ensure smooth playback of these assets,” Hume adds.

Lenovo has shown that it’s capable of delivering a device that’s ultra-portable, ultra-capable, and ultra-reliable. And thanks to the Active Protection System and OneKey Rescue System, your hard drive and data are more secure than ever before.

“The IdeaPad offers the perfect balance between business and entertainment, convenience and practicality. It is to this end that Tarsus has no doubt that this device will be embraced by users, resellers and retailers alike,” Hume concludes.

New Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 13-inch notebook packed with more thinking power than ever before

Tarsus Technologies has announced the local availability of Lenovo’s ThinkPad Edge 13-inch notebook, a newly designed, quick-thinking compact notebook with an innovative consumer edge that’s purpose-built to power small businesses.

If retailers and resellers were expecting just another update to the ThinkPad brand, they’re in for a surprise with this notebook. ThinkPads have typically been aimed at big business, however, Lenovo has shown that it’s ready to take on the budget-conscious small business sector, whilst being cognisant of the need for consumer-friendly features, and the ThinkPad Edge encompasses all of this.

“For the first time ever,” says Alexi Hume Lenovo product manager at Tarsus Technologies, “there’s choice when it comes to colour. The ThinkPad Edge 13” notebook is available in Midnight Black and striking Heatwave Red, with a glossy finish.

“The aesthetical makeover doesn’t end at colour. There has also been a total rethink on the notebook’s keyboard, and the new island-style design has a simplified layout that’s actually based on contemporary usage patterns,” Hume adds.

Lenovo hasn’t only redesigned the exterior, they have looked internally too; the ThinkPad Edge runs on an Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 processor at 1.3GHz with 800MHz FSB and 3MB cache; or for the first time ever, users have the option of an AMD version, running on the AMD Athlon Neo X2 Dual-Core L325 processor at 1.5GHz with the AMD M780G chipset.

“The Intel version has Intel GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics while the AMD version has ATI Radeon HD 3200 IGP with 128MB graphics memory, and this makes everything from video to Microsoft Office run smoothly,” Hume explains.

With the ThinkPad Edge, Lenovo has shown that they understand that small business owners and their employees expect dedicated performance from their notebooks, and this is exactly what the ThinkPad Edge offers. Multiple wireless connectivity options, excellent battery life and Windows 7 Professional 64-bit make this machine a perfect mobile office.

Added features include the Active Protection System, which guards the notebook from shock damage and a spill-resistant keyboard; both protect the ThinkPad Edge from unwanted damage from the knocks and spills it may endure as part of a rigorous business lifestyle.

The goal with the ThinkPad Edge was to match Lenovo reliability with flair, and offer this at an affordable price tag. With the ThinkPad Edge, Lenovo has managed to do this, without losing the robust and durable design that users, resellers and retailers have come to expect from the brand,” Hume concludes.
