Acer S-series monitors offer high-performance coupled with energy efficiency

Tags: , , ,

Acer South Africa has taken the wraps off its first S-series monitor, the Acer S243HL 24″ LCD display. The Acer S243HL is a high-end, eco-friendly LED display that produces sharp colour quality in a unit with a slim 15mm profile.

This widescreen display is a beauty to behold – but it has far more to offer than good looks alone. It’s also an impressive performer, boasting full high-definition resolution, an extremely high contrast ratio of up to 8,000,000:1, and a rapid grey-to-grey response time of 2ms. With a non-glare screen, it’s a comfortable monitor to use under any lighting conditions.

The S243HL features white LED technology, making this LCD monitor not only attractive and powerful, but also energy-efficient and earth-friendly. Thanks to the white LED design, the screen is mercury-free and uses 63% less energy compared to other monitors of this size.

With an Energy Star rating of ES 5.0, the Acer S243HL is an energy-efficient screen.

In standby mode, the power usage of the Acer S243HL is rated at just 0.55W, and its power usage in full use is only 17.15W. Yet the monitor is perfect for high-end apps like video editing, graphic design, or watching the latest films. With two HDMI ports and a VGA port, the screen offers a selection of connectivity options. It also boasts an internal speaker for high-quality audio.

Says Josef Chvala, product manager at Acer South Africa: “Acer’s LCD displays are designed to offer super-sharp images and the highest levels of comfort, design, ergonomics and value for money for home and business users alike. We have also taken demands for greener products seriously, working hard to increase power efficiency to reduce the environmental impact of our LCD screens.”

Acer South Africa has released two new professional LCD monitors designed for intensive daily use in office environments – namely the B233H and the B243H displays.

Both of these screens – one of them a 23″ model and the other a 24″ model – are designed to be reliable and ergonomic solutions for office professionals and others who spend much of their day in front of a computer screen. The new models both offer a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio and a high contrast ratio of 80,000:1.

Says Josef Chvala, product manager at Acer South Africa: “These advanced wide-screen displays render crisp details and brilliant colours thanks to the adaptive contrast management and superior brightness. With pivot and height adjustment, a full range of connectivity options (VGA, DVI, HDMI, USB Hub) and high picture quality, these LCD screens are true high-definition performers for today’s enterprise user.”

The 23″ B233H offers a grey-to-grey response time of about 5 ms and a screen resolution of 1920×1080 at 60Hz while the 24″ B243H offers a response time of 2ms and a screen resolution of 1920×1080 at 60Hz.

The B-series displays have a dark-grey bezel and a black base with flexible height adjustment of 110mm as well as tilt and swivel adjustment. With VGA, DVI with HDCP, HDMI and USB ports, B-series monitors provide a flexible selection of connectivity options.

They also use Acer Adaptive Contrast Management (ACM) to provide for stunning picture quality with dramatic improvement of gradation and detail, especially for dimmer and brighter scenes. The technology analyses every scene and adjusts the parameters frame by frame to enhance colour quality. ACM also allows the LCD monitor to use less power.

Acer South Africa has unveiled the brand-new Aspire Z5600 series of all-in-one desktop PCs, offering a sleek design and an intuitive touchscreen interface that further breaks down the barriers between humans and technology.

The next-generation touchscreen technology featured in this innovative machine gives you the ability to control your applications and entertainment with hands-on efficiency. Windows 7 compliant multi-touch capability provides many more gesture combinations than single-touch screens, allowing you to flick, rotate, magnify and more, making the experience faster, more intuitive and more fun than using a keyboard and mouse.

“Touchscreen technology is for everyone – it is already part of our daily lives in ATM machines, handhelds, GPS devices, check-in terminals at the airport, smartphones and MP3 players,” says Josef Chvala, product manager, at Acer South Africa.

“With the Aspire Z5600, Acer brings this familiar and easy to use technology to home computing, making computers friendlier for people who still aren’t at ease with them. Experienced PC users, meanwhile, will be able to do many tasks quicker and more efficiently.”

The starting point of this new, hands-on computing experience is the Acer TouchPortal where you can access your multimedia files and devices, drag and drop your photos onto the photo wall, play videos, watch DVDs and switch from one format to another just by tapping on a virtual button.

The portal brings your devices together so you can easily print your pictures simply by dragging them on the printer icon; it allows you to browse websites and to explore places on Microsoft® Surface Globe, spinning it like a real globe. With Acer TouchMemo you can hand-write or draw memos, so you won’t miss a beat.

Acer Touch Gadgets integrates your friend lists from Flickr and Facebook and provides photo update notifications and instant browsing, while Acer TouchMediaShare offers enhanced photo management like editing, magnification and emailing.

The Aspire Z5600 offers no-compromise performance in a space-saving all-in-one PC design. It features an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, up to 750GB of hard drive space and 4GB of DDR3 RAM, an ATI HD 4530 MXM (512MB DDR2) and a full high-definition 1080p display.
